“If Parliament orders, we will take back PoK”: Army chief General Manoj Naravane

“If the Parliament wants PoK also to be ours and we get orders in this regard then action will be taken on it,” Major General Manoj Naravane said.

 

New Delhi| General Manoj Mukund Narwane held the first press conference on Saturday after being appointed the army chief. He said, “As far as PoK is concerned, a resolution was passed in Parliament many years ago that the whole of Jammu and Kashmir is our part. If the Parliament wants that area also to be ours and we get orders in this regard then action will be taken on it. ”

Kashmir: “Full support of the army to the public”

General Narwane said that everyone has done a good job in Jammu and Kashmir, be it LOC or hinterland. “We have the full support of the public. We are also thankful to the local police and administration. They have no complaints with the Army. One has to respect the decision of the commander stationed at the borders. Whatever complaints were lodged proved unfounded,” General Naravane said.

Accidents like Iran or Budgam: Role of Air Defense Command important

Iran confessed on Saturday that its army had fired missiles on Ukraine’s passenger plane as an enemy aircraft. At the same time, when there was tension between India and Pakistan after the Pulwama attack in February last year, the Air Force accidentally killed its own helicopter in Budgam. On both these incidents, General Narwane said that the formation of the Air Defense Command will help to ensure that we do not attack our own people or resources.

Chief of Defense Staff: CDS essential for coordination

General Naravane said – Coordination within the three armies is very important. The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) is a major step forward in this area. The army is in the process of change. We will always try to decide that we get the best. Whatever challenges we face, we should be ready for them in future. This is our focus.
