“Important To Follow Right Footsteps”, Says Aaditya Thackeray On Dad’s Resignation”

The coalition cabinet headed by Uddhav Thackeray was overthrown by Eknath Shinde of Sena and almost 50 other MLAs.

Mumbai: Aaditya Thackeray, the former minister and son of Uddhav Thackeray, tweeted a tribute to his father three days after the former chief minister of Maharashtra announced his resignation.

With a vintage image of his father and him trailing closely after, he wrote, “Always important to follow the right footsteps” on Instagram.

The alliance led by Mr. Thackeray was overthrown by Sena’s Eknath Shinde and over 50 MLAs who backed him. The group said they wanted to break off their “unnatural” coalition with Sharad Pawar’s NCP and the Congress, two parties with opposing ideologies, and reestablish their relationship with the BJP.

“Indebted to all for your love and blessings that keep coming our way, that is our true strength,” added Aaditya Thackeray.

“He has seen betrayals earlier. He doesn’t have any real material attachment to the seat. He left Varsha when he said. He has given his resignation. That’s very unlikely of any politician who loves saying I’ll come back soon. He feels if we don’t have the numbers, we don’t have it. He said Aaditya, what doesn’t belong to us…never will it be…,” said the 32-year-old

“My father, grandfather and his father all believed that power and money come, go and come again… that is beyond one’s control, but one should never lose one’s reputation and respect. So, we are here to serve, and we will see how things go,” he said in the interview.

On Thursday, Sena dissident Eknath Shinde took the oath of office as chief minister of Maharashtra, while Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP was sworn in as his deputy.
