New Delhi| Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The CBI custody of the Senior Congress leader has been extended till Thursday. Which means, he will not be sent to Tihar jail. During the hearing on Monday, the Supreme Court asked P Chidambaram to appeal to the court concerned for interim protection. It also ordered that he should not be sent to Tihar Jail and if the trial court rejects his bail plea, his CBI custody will be extended till Thursday.

The court said, “You want interim bail from the lower court. The lower court should consider it today. If the lower court rejects the interim bail plea, then the CBI should extend the custody. ”
On 31st August, the court extended his CBI remand for three days. After this, he was sent to CBI custody till 3 September. Tomorrow the CBI remand will come to an end. In such a situation, Chidambaram is afraid that he can be arrested and to avoid this arrest, he applied in the Supreme Court.
