After Jamia, Protest in AMU turns violent; Internet Services cut-off, hostels being emptied

According to reports, the students of AMU gathered near a campus gate to protest the alleged police brutality on students of Jamia Milia University.

 

Aligarh| Hours after the student protestors in Jamia Milia University clashed with the Delhi Police, protests in Aligarh Muslim University too turned violent. As many as 60 students were injured when the protesting students of AMU clashed with the UP police at Campus Gate.

After the clash, the University administration has declared that the University will be shut till January 5. All the scheduled exams will be notified later, AMU administration said. Following the protests, hostels are being evacuated.

According to reports, the students of AMU gathered near a campus gate to protest the alleged police brutality on students of Jamia Milia University. However, eyewitnesses say that soon it turned violent as stone-pelting began. The students breached the police blockade and the clashes ensued.

The University administration said that Security Personnel were also injured in the clashes.

Protests are erupting across the University Campuses against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Students of IIT Bombay, BHU, Patna University too staged a protest against CAA.
