New Delhi | Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Monday proposed that the State of Jammu and Kashmir should have a Hindu Chief Minister under the governor rule.
“There should be a Hindu Chief Minister (in Jammu and Kashmir). If the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) has a Hindu or a Sikh member we can make that member the Chief Minister,” Swamy told media.

The BJP leader further added the tradition imposed by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru of having only a Muslim chief minister in Jammu and Kashmir would not be accepted.
Earlier on June 2019, the BJP withdrew its support form the Mufti government saying that it is untenable for BJP to continue in alliance with PDP in Jammu & Kashmir. Governor’s rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir after CM Mehbooba Mufti resigned as the Chief Minister.
