New Delhi| Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has announced that his party will contest Lok Sabha elections in 2019. According to the news agency on Saturday, he announced this, saying, “Definitely I will contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.”

The Makkal Nidhi Maiam (MNM) chief said that soon a committee will be formed which will start the process of selection of candidates.

He said that his party would focus on the development of Tamil Nadu. When asked about an alliance, he said that his party may consider an alliance with parties having the same ideology. However, he said, “Nothing can be said on such things right now. I can not talk about this in front of the media.”

64-year-old Kamal Haasan is touring Tamil Nadu to strengthen his party these days. However, he did not clear his party’s position on the by-election of 20 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu next year.

In February this year, Kamal Haasan entered politics and formed a separate party named Makkal Nidhi Maiyam.
