Breaking: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa wins trust vote

Bengaluru | Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa today won the confidence motion in the Karnataka Assembly through voice vote.

Yediyurappa earlier took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka after the HD Kumaraswamy led Congress-JD(S) led government lost the floor test 99-105 on Tuesday. The confidence motion was a simpler task for Yediyurappa after Karnataka assembly speaker K R Ramesh Kumar on Sunday disqualified 14 more rebel MLAs under the anti-defection act till the end of the current term of the assembly in 2023.

Speaking during Confidence motion, Yediyuappa said,” “When Siddaramaiah and HD Kumaraswamy were CMs they didn’t indulge in vindictive politics. The administration has failed and we’ll set it right. I assurance the House that we won’t indulge in vindictive politics either. I believe in forget and forgive”

“There is drought. I want to address farmers’ issues. I’ve decided to give 2 installments of Rs 2000 to beneficiaries under PM Kisan scheme from state’s side. I appeal to opposition that we must work together. I appeal to House to unanimously express confidence in me,” he added.

The move led to the total number of disqualified MLAs to 17 reducing the assembly strength to 2018. So BS Yediyurappa with 105 MLAs in his bank will be able to pass the confidence motion in the assembly as the majority mark is now reduced 105.
