“I know who are trying to contact the BJP” : Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy

HD Kumaraswamy, the Karnataka Chief Minister on Monday put all the speculations to rest saying that his government is not undergoing “any threat”. Launching an attack on the Bhartiya Janata Party he stated that he knows that who all are they that the saffron party is “trying to contact”.

He further questioned, “All 3 of them (Congress MLAs) are continuously in contact with me. They went to Mumbai after informing me. My govt isn’t under any threat. I know who all BJP is trying to contact & what they’re offering. I can handle it; why should media be concerned?”

Meanwhile, the “Operation Lotus” of BJP to turn the coalition government upside down in Karnataka alleged DK Shivakumar the Water Resource Minister on Sunday, added three MLAs of the Congress Party were staying in a hotel in Mumbai in the “company of some BJP leaders”.

He further said, “Horse trading is happening in the state. Three of our MLAs are in Mumbai in a hotel with some BJP leaders and MLAs. We know what has happened there and what has been offered to them”.

Operation Lotus stands to be a reference to the Bhartiya Janata Party allegedly trying to lure several MLAs from the opposition to defect to keep the steadiness of its then-government intact that was led by B S Yeddyurappa in Karnataka in the year 2008.

Shiva Kumar, who had earlier gathered the repute of being a “trouble-shooter” in the Congress for bailing out from the party from many situations of crisis in the past, accused H D Kumaraswamy of being “lenient” towards the BJP.

He said, “The chief minister is adopting a policy of wait and watch. If I was in his place, I would have exposed it within 24 hours”.
