Kerala: Former ISRO chairman Madhavan Nair joins BJP

Thiruvananthapuram | Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Madhavan Nair on Sunday joined BJP under the presence on BJP president Amit Shah.

A resident of Thiruvananthapuram Madhavan Nair was also the chairman of the Space Commision of India and Secretary to the Department of Space in India government. Nair is also honoured with India’s second highest civilian awards, Padma Vibhushan. However, after his alleged role in the Antarix-Devas spectrum deal, the government of India had banned Nair from holding any government position.

Speaking to media after joining BJP, Nair said, “He’s not a politician and has joined the party because he’s impressed by the development agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”. He further added that his role will be to provide technical capacity to support PM Modi’s nation-building agenda.

Along with Madhavan Nair, former Women’s Commission member Dr Prameela Devi, JDS district vice-president Karakulam Divakaran Nair, Thomas John from the Malankara Church and former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President G Raman Nair also joined BJP today.
