Maharashtra: Shivsena sticks to 50:50 formula, demands written assurance from BJP

After the meeting concluded, Shivsena MLA Pratap Sarnaik said that the party will not compromise on the formula.

 

Mumbai| On Saturday, the meeting of Shivsena’s winning MLAs took place at the residence of Uddhav Thackeray Maatoshri. The meeting comes at a time when the BJP is in a fix over the government formation in the state.

After the meeting concluded, Shivsena MLA Pratap Sarnaik said that the party will not compromise on the formula. He said that during the meeting with Amit Shah ahead of Lok Sabha elections, the BJP promised of 50:50 formula. They had also agreed on the 2.5 years of the Chief Minister post for both Shivsena and BJP. “They should give a written assurance to Uddhav Ji,” Sarnaik claimed.

Despite deciding on the 50:50 formula, ahead of Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP received more seats than Shivsena.
