Mamata Banerjee to sit on dharna to protest tax on Durga puja

Kolkata | West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has hit out at the BJP government for imposing an imposing tax on Durga Puja committees in the state.

Mamata Banerjee, in a series on tweets on Sunday, demanded that there should be no tax for any pujo festival.

“We are proud of all our national festivals,” Mamata Banerjee posted on Twitter. “These festivals are for all and we do not want any pujo festival to be taxed. This will be a burden on the organisers. Bangla govt withdrew tax, which was earlier there, on Ganga Sagar Mela,” Mamata Banerjee tweeted.

“Bangla govt withdrew tax, which was earlier there, on Ganga Sagar Mela. We protest and demand no taxation on Durga pujo and Durga pujo committees,” she wrote.

She further informed people that she will be sitting on a dharna, and provided details for people to join her.

“The Trinamool Congress Banga Janani Wing will sit on dharna on Tuesday August 13 at Subodh Mallik Square (Opp Hind Cinema) 10am-6pm. Organisers, participants and all people who love #Bangla may please join,” Mamata Banerjee said on Twitter.
