Manish Tewari questions government over China’s interference in Jammu & Kashmir

Manish Tewari asked why does India not raise issues of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, human rights violations in Xinjiang but China concerning Kashmir

New Delhi: Congress leader Manish Tewari has slammed the Narendra Modi-led government for failing to stop China from interfering in the internal matters of India.

Manish Tewari asked why does India not raise issues of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, human rights violations in Xinjiang while China is raising concerns over Kashmir.

“Xi Jinping says he is watching Kashmir but why does Indian government not watching pro-democracy protests muzzled in Hong Kong, human rights violations in Xinjiang, oppression in Tibet the South China Sea,” Congress’s Manish Tewari wrote on Twitter as he hit out at the Centre for its inability to stop China from interfering in India’s internal matters.

Manish Tewari highlighted the meet of Chinese President with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran where the former said that he was paying “close attention” to the situation in Kashmir just hours before the second informal Modi-Xi summit in Tamil Nadu’s Mamallapuram.

The Chinese president earlier called on the two sides to maintain close high-level exchanges, step up strategic communication and coordinate positions on major issues in a timely fashion. Imran Khan’s visit to China comes at a time when tensions have spiked between Pakistan and India after New Delhi ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5

China, appears, signalling to Pakistan that President Xi’s visit to India does not reflect any dilution of the “all-weather” friendship of the two allies.

The Chinese have also offered to mediate between India and Pakistan over Kashmir, who also see U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated offers to act as a third party on Kashmir as a welcome development.

Manish Tewari has always spoken about Indo- China Dynamics and changes in South Asia. He had also indicated that the red dragon alone should not dominate Asia. China is rising as a giant investor in the world and neighbours of it are facing border issues for a long time.
