Election 2019

Mayawati hints at becoming the Prime Minister

Ambedkar Nagar(UP) | BSP Chief Mayawati has indicated that if she gets a chance of becoming the Prime Minister, she might contest from Ambedkar Nagar in Lok Sabha.

“If all goes well, I might have to contest elections from Ambedkar Nagar because the road to national politics passes from here”, she said, addressing a rally.

Mayawati has won Lok Sabha elections from the same constituency four times in the past:1989, 1998, 1999 and 2004.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and other top BSP leaders have supported her claim for becoming the Prime Minister.

She said that the age of “Namo Namo” is over and the age of “Jai Bhim” is here.

Last week, PM Modi had accused Samajwadi Party of “going soft” on Congress, when Priyanka Gandhi Vada attended an SP meeting in Raebareli.

Mayawati commented on this by accusing PM Modi of trying to “create fissures” between the party.

Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party are contesting the ongoing Lok Sabha polls in an alliance.

Uttar Pradesh has gone to polls in the last five phases and will continue in the remaining two phases.

The results of the counting will be declared on May 23.
