New Delhi | Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti today demanded the release of members of Jamaat-e-Islami and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik.
Leading a protest rally in South Kashmir’s Pulwama against the suspension of cross-LOC trade, Mufti said,” Yasin Malik should be released immediately as he is really unwell. Also, other members of Jamaat-e-Islami should be released. Mufti also questioned the release of BJP Bhopal candidate and Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Thakur.
Meanwhile, the Delhi court on Wednesday sent JKLF chief Yasin Malik, arrested in a case related to the funding of separatists and terror groups in Jammu and Kashmir, to judicial custody till May 24.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has reserved its judgment on a CBI plea for reopening three-decade-old cases in which Malik was an accused.
The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik is facing charges of kidnapping and murder for being allegedly involved in abducting Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 1989, and killing of four Indian Air Force personnel in 1990. The JKLF was recently banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
