Mithun’s induction into the BJP has been speculated since the time when Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat met him in Mumbai on February 16. However, Mithun Chakraborty described it as a spiritual meeting. Mithun also met Bhagwat at the Sangh headquarters in Nagpur in 2019. He spent about three hours there.

BJP can give ticket to Mithun Chakraborty

According to political experts, Mithun as an actor has a lot of popularity in Bengal. Taking advantage of this, the BJP can make him a candidate. It is also being said that he can be the star campaigner of the BJP. Bengal BJP vice-president Arjun Singh said that if Mithun shares the stage with the Prime Minister on March 7, it would be a matter of great pleasure for the people of Bengal. His coming with us will be good for both the party and West Bengal.

Mithun was a Rajya Sabha MP from TMC

In April 2014, he was elected as a Rajya Sabha MP from Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress. He resigned in December 2016 due to ill health. His name also came up in the Saradha Chitfund Company scam.
