As Karnataka’s fate still remains unsure, a day after the electorate delivered a split verdict, reports of MLAs going missing from the JD(S) and Congress camps have been denied by leaders from both sides.
“We are all together. All this is false news. In fact, there are six BJP people who are in touch with us,” former Congress minister M B Patil was reported as telling a source.
With the JD(S) and Congress teaming up against BJP, the two parties are under the impression that their MLAs are being poached. This coalition is important for both the parties to keep BJP at bay in Karnataka.
Earlier, two JD(S) MLAs were reported as missing from the party legislative party meeting which is underway at a hotel in Bengaluru. According to some sources, the MLAs have been identified as Raja Venkatappa Nayaka and Venkata Rao Nadagouda.
There are also unconfirmed reports that around three Congress MLAs are not to be found as all efforts by the party leadership to get in touch with the legislators were in vain.
This situation has arisen a day after Karnataka Assembly polls where BJP emerged as a single majority party but was thrown out of track after Congress and JD(S) decided to form an alliance. Yeddyurappa accused the Congress of trying to regain power through the back door. He said the people of Karnataka rejected the Congress and the results were a clear mandate for the BJP.
