Ahead of the Delhi assembly polls, PM Modi inaugurated 1,675 flats for ‘Jhuggi – Jhopri’ (JJ) clusters and two urban redevelopment projects in the national capital on Friday.
In his address, PM Modi said: “Even I could have built a Sheeshmahal, but for me, my only dream was that my countrymen should get a pucca house.” PM Modi said, taking a swipe at the luxurious Chief Minister’s residence.
PM Modi inaugurated developmental projects worth Rs 4,500 crore in Delhi today, including Ashoka Vihar EWS flats, Sarojini Nagar government quarters, World Trade centre and Delhi University campuses and colleges, including the Veer Savarkar college.

Attacking the central government, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said, “Savarkar had nothing to do with Delhi and surrounding areas. There have been great revolutionaries and freedom fighters in and around Delhi… In the wake of the Delhi elections, they have thought about polarisation… They should have named the college after Dr Manmohan Singh; after all, he has been the greatest educationist ever…”
PM, addressing the voters of Delhi, said, “30,000 new houses have been built in Delhi under the PM Awas Yojana. In the next phase, one crore new houses will be built in the national capital with the support of BJP-led central government.” Further taking a dig at AAP, PM Modi said that Delhi is gripped with an AAPDA, which translates to disaster.

“Our work is not ‘Aapda’ but people’s aashirwaad,” Kejriwal said.
Responding to the Sheeshmahal jibe, Kejriwal said: The person who has built a house worth 2 thousand seven hundred crore, A person who travels in a plane worth 8,400 crore, a person who wears a suit worth 10 Lakhs. Kejriwal said the Talks of Sheeshmahal do not sound good from his mouth.
Meanwhile, the BJP is yet to release their first list of candidates for the 70-seat Delhi elections, while the Aam Aadmi Party, seeking a third term, has released their full list. The elections in the National Capital are scheduled for February.
