Mumbai: In Mumbai, a man from Wadala was thrashed and his head was shaved by some ShivSena workers for allegedly making a disrespected comment against Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray on Facebook. The incident happened in the Shanti Nagar area of Wadala East on Friday.

The man is identified as Hiramani Tiwari, had posted a disrespected comment against CM Uddhav Thackeray on December 20. The Maharashtra chief minister had spoken against police action in Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi comparing it to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

On Sunday, ShivSena workers traced Hiramani Tiwari’s location in Wadala East and called him outside his residence. Videos have gone viral on social media platforms where ShivSena workers are seen abusing and assaulting Tiwari. The Sena workers initially abused and thrashed Tiwari and later on forced shave his head.

The Wadala police station issued notices to Tiwari and the ShivSena workers under relevant sections of CrPC which states that “the two parties had resolved their differences and the parties should abide and maintain law and order and if they fail to do so, they will be prosecuted and an FIR will be registered against them under suitable sections”.

Speaking to media, Hiramani Tiwari said, “After posting a statement on Uddhav Thackeray, I started receiving threats following which I deleted the post. On Sunday, ShivSena workers came to my residence and asked me to come out. They started assaulting and abusing me and shaved my head.”

Tiwary added, “The assault has damaged my eardrum and it has been certified by the doctors. If this is the way ShivSena functions then it is very dangerous. Initially, cops took my complaint but later gave us notices under Section 149 of Crpc. I demand that strict action to be taken against the ShivSena workers who had assaulted me.”

The Wadala police station in Mumbai registered a case of assault, defamation, and criminal intimidation against some ShivSena workers who had attacked and shaved head od a person identified as Hiramani Tiwari for allegedly posting a derogatory comment against the Chief Minister.

Hiramani Tiwari was earlier associated with Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and is a supporter of Bajrang Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Tiwari said he backs the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) for which he had participated in a demonstration in Dadar on Saturday.
