New Delhi | NaMo TV, a channel which had a sole purpose of airing PM Narendra Modi’s speeches, campaigns, and other BJP leaders’ interviews, has suddenly gone off the air.
Just as it had appeared suddenly, it has gone off after the elections, without any explanation.
“The broadcast stopped 2-3 days back. We stopped receiving signals from the source on the Internet which was operated by the BJP,” said a top executive of a leading DTH operator to Hindustan Times.
However, multiple reports point out that the BJP has taken it off air due to its purpose of campaigning has been fulfilled.
NaMo TV, which was being aired free of cost by DTH operators such as Tata Sky, Videocon and Dish TV, had been criticised by the opposition as being a ‘propaganda machine’
Despite various complaints, no action had been taken by the EC.
On April 11, the Election Commission directed NaMo TV to not air any content that has not been pre-certified by the panel mandated to certify or authorise political ads.
