Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar met Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday morning at Varsha, the official residence of the Chief Minister, before the latter departed to Delhi for a meeting with Prime Minister Modi scheduled for today.

Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil on Monday said “A delegation of Maharashtra government led by CM Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar will meet PM Modi in Delhi tomorrow. They will discuss issues like Maratha reservation, OBC reservation, and cyclone relief”

Last month, Thackeray had written to PM Modi requesting him to take steps to declare the Maratha community of the state as Socially and Educationally Backward (SEBC) to enable them to claim the reservation in education and public employment at least to 12 percent and 13 percent respectively.
