Patna | The National Democratic Alliance on Saturday has announced its list for 39 of the 40 Lok Sabha candidates in Bihar constituency.
The NDA alliance in Bihar consists of BJP, Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), and Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP.
Ravi Shankar Prasad has replaced the two time MP Shatrughan Sinha from Patna Sahib.
Sinha has been vocal about his criticisms and disagreements with the party, constantly attacking party’s decisions like demonetisation, farm distress, unemployment and allegations of corruption in Rafale deal.
He also participated in the two major opposition rally held in Kolkata and New Delhi.
The move comes amid rumours that Sinha will be joining the Congress soon.
In the list, Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh has been given the Begusarai constituency.
The list was released at a press conference attended by Bihar BJP chief Nityanand Rai, JD-U state president Vashisht Narayan Singh and LJP state unit head Pashupati Paras.
Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh will be contesting from Purvi Champaran.
BJP national spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy will contest from Saran
Lok Janshakti Party state president Pashupati Kumar Paras will be replacing his elder brother Ram Vilas Paswan in Hajipur.
Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will contest from Jamui constituency.
BJP had earlier today released its third list of candidates which contained 36 candidates from five states: Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya, with a whopping 23 announced from the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Elections in Bihar will be conducted in seven phases on April 11, 18, 23, and 29 and May 6, 12 and 19. The counting of votes will be done on May 23
