Mumbai: Amidst the speculation that Congress is positive on joining the govt with ShivSena, the party issued a statement. The statement, however, did not mention anything about supporting ShivSena. Sena Supremo Uddhav Thackeray had in the evening held a conversation with Congress’s interim president Sonia Gandhi over the phone for five minutes. Thackeray along with two other leaders of his party was at Ahmed Patel’s residence when the two leaders had a talk.

Just an hour before the deadline, Uddhav Thackeray‘s son Aaditya Thackeray met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari along with senior ShivSena leaders. Reportedly, Aaditya Thackeray sought 24 hours from the governor but the governor did not grant the time. However, Aaditya Thackeray said that the party has expressed the intent to form a government.

Meanwhile, Congress issued a statement in which it said that the party held CWC meeting with leaders to discuss the government formation in Maharashtra. After that consultation was held with Maharashtra leadership of the party. It said, “The party will have further discussion with NCP.”
