“Don’t lose perspective, there is no Modi wave here”: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah even asked the media to not “lose perspective” and asserted, “There is no Modi wave here.”

Angered by the media coverage of north-east assembly elections results which speculated the results might also impact the Karnataka Assembly Election, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah took it to Twitter to assert that there is no “Modi Wave” in Karnataka.

The Northeast assembly election results have been flattering for BJP. While in Tripura, going from 0 to 41, BJP scripted history, in Nagaland the BJP coalition with NDPP managed to get the majority of the seats and claiming the stake to form a government. In Meghalaya, despite winning only two seats, K is in the government supporting the NPP-led coalition. Congress, on the other hand, was stumped in all the three states, including its traditional bastion of Meghalaya.

BJP National President Amit Shah on Saturday while congratulating party workers from north-east also expressed confidence that the saffron party will also sweep Karnataka. The media also debated whether the north-east results would also impact the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka.

However, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah slammed the media for drawing such analogy. In a Twitter post, he lashed out at media saying that there is an excitement in a certain section of media post-Tripura results.

However, he said that the Tripura results will not impact Karnataka. He further added that “Since 2014 Lok Sabha results #BJP has lost Assembly segments in over 50 Lok Sabha Seats & has won only about 2 LS seats.” Siddaramaiah even asked the media to not “lose perspective” and asserted, “There is no Modi wave in Karnataka.”

Blazing guns at BJPs chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa, he called him a “Jailbird”. He said the BJP in Karnataka has to worry about convincing voters that it will give Karnataka a corruption-free government considering Yeddyurappa presided over mining loot, illegal denotification of Bengaluru lands & cash-for-MLA scam called OperationKamala.
