Shashi Tharoor

Shashi Tharoor’s apology came after a Twitter user tweeted, “Don’t you think you could have checked an important document like manifesto before its release? It’s not even a big document”

New Delhi: Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor apologizes for map blunder in his manifesto. In his manifesto for the Congress chief’s election, a map of India did not have parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. After he was slammed by social media users, particularly BJP users, he issued the corrected versions.

Congress sought to distance itself from the “egregious error.” They deflected themselves from BJP attacks by sharing Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.

He tweeted, “No one does such things on purpose. A small team of volunteers made a mistake. We rectified it immediately &I apologise unconditionally for the error.”

Social Media users termed this map blunder as “a massive goof-up” and “a shameful act.” Some also accused him of having “a divisive agenda”.

Since corrected, a wrong map of India in Shashi Tharoor’s original manifesto.

BJP Leader Amit Malviya on this Shashi Tharoor’s manifesto mistake took to Twitter and tweeted, “Shashi Tharoor, Congress’s presidential hopeful, puts a mutilated map of India in his manifesto. While Rahul Gandhi is supposedly on a Bharat Jodo Yatra, wannabe Congress President is hell bent on dismembering India. May be he thinks this might help find favour with the Gandhis…”

To this tweet of Amit Malviya Congress communication Chief, Jairam Ramesh replied, “The BJP is clearly panicking now that the Bharat Jodo Yatra has entered Karnataka. The “I Troll Cell” (IT Cell) of the BJP will look for any flimsy excuse to target and tarnish the #BharatJodoYatra and  @RahulGandhi. Only Dr. Tharoor and his team can explain this egregious error.”

Shashi Tharoor’s apology came after a Twitter user tweeted, “Don’t you think you could have checked an important document like manifesto before its release? It’s not even a big document.”

This is the first time in over 20 years that Congress Chief elections are being held and no member of the Gandhi family is contesting in elections. Rahul Gandhi had announced that no member of the Gandhi Family will be contesting in the elections. This comes in an apparent counter to nepotism charges, insisting that a non-Gandhi take up the job.
