In the past, there was a tripartite agreement in Delhi between the Assam’s government, the Union Home Ministry and the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB). Under it, 150 militants surrendered, demanding separate Bodoland for almost 50 years. During this period more than 4,000 people were killed in the conflict.
