Election 2019

PM Modi dodges question about Pragya Singh Thakur

New Delhi | In his first ever press conference after winning the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister dodges a question about BJP candidate Pragya Singh Thakur.

A reporter named Anjana asked a question about Pragya Singh Thakur’s controversial candidature.

“If Pragya Thakur wins from Bhopal, will the party welcome her or expell her?”, she asked.

However, PM Modi ducks the question, laughs it off and diverts it to BJP Chief Amit Shah by exclaiming,” Who is bigger than the chief?!”

Amit Shah responded by saying that a show cause notice has been sent to her and the disciplinary committee will look into the matter. She has been given 10 days to reciprocate.

Later, Amit Shah clarifies Thakur’s candidature and explained that they were false charges and accused Congress of mishandling the Samjhauta Express case by bribing and falsely convicting the charged.

2008 Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur has been facing the heat ever since her candidature was announced. Her comments have faced a lot of criticism.

She is contesting from Bhopal constituency in Madhya Pradesh.
