PM Modi slams Sam Pitroda for 1984 Sikh riot remark

Congress’s Sam Pitroda brushed off BJP’s allegation and calling it BJP’s another lie. “What happened in 1984, happened. What have you done?” he asked.

Rohtak| Congress leader Sam Pitroda’s comments on 1984 Anti-Sikh riots have sparked a fresh controversy. After BJP slammed Pitroda for saying “Hua to Hua” about Anti-Sikh riots, now PM Modi has slammed him. He said that these three words sum up Congress’s arrogance. Talking about Pitroda, PM Modi said that the statement came from someone who is one of the closest people to the Gandhi family.

“Many Sikhs in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh were targeted during the 1984 riots but today Congress is saying ‘Hua so Hua’,” said PM Modi.

PM Modi also said that Sam Pitroda’s comments should not be taken as individual statements. Referring to Rajiv Gandhi’s comments after Indira Gandhi’s assassination, he said that the Congress even made Kamal Nath in charge of Punjab, now made him MP CM.

What Sam Pitroda Said:

The ruling BJP had also accused the former prime minister claiming that the Nanavati Commission had found that “instructions to kill” came directly from Rajiv Gandhi’s office. To which Congress’s Sam Pitroda, who is in charge of the party’s overseas units, brushed off BJP’s allegation and calling it BJP’s another lie. He further said, “What has BJP done in the last five years, talk about that? What happened in 1984, happened. What have you done?”

However, Sam Pitroda later apologised for the comments and said that his statements were twisted by the BJP.
