Police Detains Sachin Pilot Amid Congress Protests In Support Of Rahul Ganadhi

New Delhi: Police have detained Congress leader and former Rajasthan Deputy CM Sachin Pilot amid protests over Rahul Gandhi’s Enforcement directorate (ED) questioning in the National Herald case.

Pilot was on his way to the party headquarters when he was stopped by the police and taken away on a bus to the Narela Police Station in Delhi.

Congress leaders and party workers continued their protests as the Enforcement Directorate began quizzing Rahul Gandhi for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was questioned for 11 hours on Tuesday and 10 hours on Monday.

Slamming Bhartiya Janta Party over Sachin Pilot’s detention, the Congress took to Twitter and wrote, “The dictatorship of the BJP government continues. By detaining Congress leader @SachinPilot Ji and Congress workers, BJP cannot defeat the spirits of Congress warriors. A befitting reply will be given to the dictatorial government.” the tweet read.

At a media briefing, Delhi Police Special CP (Law & Order) Sagar Hooda stated around 800 people have been detained since the Congress began its satyagraha over Rahul Gandhi’s ED questioning on Monday.

Sonia Gandhi, who has also been summoned for questioning, will depose before the probe agency on June 23. The Congress president was admitted to the hospital on Sunday owing to Covid-related issues and is said to be stable now.

On Tuesday when Rahul Gandhi was relieved by the ED after questioning. Rahul along with Priyanka  Gandhi then went to the Delhi hospital to visit Sonia Gandhi, who has been admitted due to Covid-19-related health issues.

Yesterday Top Congress leaders including Harish Rawat, Randeep Surjewala, and Ashok Gehlot were detained by the authorities for participating in the protests against ED. Hundreds of Congress workers were detained by the Delhi police so far, as per officials.
