Prashant Kishor Meets Gandhis Amid Speculations Of Induction In Congress

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor, amid renewed speculations around him joining the Congress party, is in a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and K C Venugopal, NDTV reported, citing sources.

Mr Kishor, after falling out with Congress during earlier discussions held last year, has resumed negotiations with the Gandhis for a role in resurrecting the Congress ahead of the big polls ahead, including the 2024 general election.

Congress sources have maintained that the talks are focused on the Gujarat election later this year. However, sources close to Mr Kishor say the Congress leadership and Prashant Kishor or “PK” are mainly discussing a blueprint for the 2024 national election.

Earlier in March, sources inside the Congress claimed Prashant Kishor is expected to join the grand old party soon and will be given the responsibility to manage the party’s campaign for upcoming Gujarat elections.

Sources had also informed that influential Leuva Patidar leader Naresh Patel is also likely to join the Congress and work along with Kishor. Patel had reportedly put forth a condition that he’ll join the Congress party only if Prashant Kishor is given the control over poll campaign.

Mr Kishor, after leading Mamata Banerjee to thumping victory against the BJP in West Bengal, had announced that he will quit the space of political management and will think about joining active politics once again, after his failed stint in Nitish Kumar’s JD(U).
