‘Why was the 23-year-old woman not given any security after a similar incident in Unnao’, Priyanka Gandhi tweeted
LUCKNOW| On Saturday Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the family of a 23-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, who died last night at a hospital in Delhi after she was set on fire by the 5 men who had allegedly raped her.
Priyanka Gandhi questioned through tweeter, why was the 23-year-old woman not given any security after a similar incident in Unnao, referring to another such attack in the district in July when the car in which a woman had accused MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of rape, was hit by a truck. (in Hindi)

She tweeted, “What action has been taken on the police officer who refused to register an FIR? What steps are being taken by the government to stop crime against the women, which take place on a daily basis?”.
Priyanka Gandhi prayed to give courage to the family members through her tweet.
The Congress general secretary also said that it is everyone’s collective failure as a society that the woman was not able to get justice. “At the social level, we all are guilty, but at the same time, this also points out to the hollow law and order mechanism in UP,” she tweeted.
Priyanka Gandhi Visited Unnao rape victims’ place to meet her family after which she said her family was constantly harassed and the culprits have some connection with BJP.
Priyanka Gandhi said, “Chief Minister is saying there is no place for criminals in the state but what he has turned the state into, I think there is no place for women here. Victim’s whole family has been constantly harassed since last year. I have heard that the culprits have some BJP connection. That is why they were being shielded. There is no fear among criminals in the state”.
“She is gone, but I will keep fighting for justice. I will not rest until justice is served. Either shoot them like the Hyderabad rapists or hang them,” said the victim’s father.
“We have been asking for justice from CM and the government, but no one listened,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi tweeted he is stunned by what happened in Unnao. “I am appalled and stunned by what happened in Unnao and the innocent daughter’s heartbreaking death. She died hoping for justice. My condolences are with her family”. (in Hindi)
