In the line with YSRCP MPs staging a hunger strike in nation’s capital for the Andhra Pradesh Special Status, Telugu Desam Party MPs attempted a protest outside the Prime minister’s residence. The TDP MPs were detained by the Delhi police at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg while they were attempting to stage a protest outside PM Modi’s residence.

TDP has intensified its protest for the Andhra Pradesh Special Category Status since the Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu decided to quit the Modi government and the National Democratic Alliance. The MPs started their protest rally from the residence of Rajyasabha MP Y S Chowdhary. Chowdhary was formerly in PM Modi’s cabinet. However, following the fallout, he resigned from the cabinet. “The Prime Minister has to deliver what he had promised. He is the one to take decisions and that is why we are raising our demands with him.”

Reportedly, Aam Adami Party Chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal visited the detained MPs at the Tughlaq Road police station. This comes days after Chandrababu Naidu met Kejriwal to seek the support of his party for the No-confidence motion against the Modi-led BJP government.

Later in the day, Kejriwal tweeted in support of the protesting MPs, “TDP MPs taken to Tughlak Road Police Stn for demanding Spl status for AP. I went and met them at police stn in solidarity. We condemn their detention and fully support demand for spl status of AP.”
