Rafale deal: Dassault paid 284 crores in kickbacks to Anil Ambani, alleges Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi | Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday alleged that Dassault aviation for paying 284 crores to Reliance Defence in Kickbacks to Anil Ambani’s Reliance defence in the controversial Indo-France Rafale deal.

Addressing a press conference, Gandhi questioned why did Dassault invest 284 crores in lossmaking company with a valuation of 8 lakhs. “The Dassault CEO had said the reason HAL wasn’t given the contract was that Anil Ambani had his own land. Now it turns out that the land that Anil Ambani had was purchased by money given by Dassault,” added Gandhi.

Speaking on the removal of CBI Director Alok Verma, the Congress President said, “Rafale is an open and shut case. CBI Director was removed because obviously, CBI was looking into these matters”. He further stated that the Prime Minister removed the CBI chief because he is scared of investigation in the Rafale deal. He said,” Mr Narendra Modi personally took this decision. Mr Parrikar clarified that he had nothing to do with the Rafale deal. If an enquiry starts on this, Mr Modi is not going to survive that enquiry”. “Defence Minister flies to France and Dassault speaks in favour of Anil Ambani,” asserted Gandhi.

Gandhi also attacked the government over the secrecy clause disclosing the price of the Rafale jets. He said, “The Supreme Court asked has sought information to disclose the price of the deal, but the government is denying on the basis of the secrecy clause”.” However, the French President has clearly said that the Rafael deal is not a part of any Confidential agreement.”
