The Congress used to run the government in Tamil Nadu. After coming out of power in 1967, it never made a comeback in the state. In the assembly elections held in 2016, the Congress got only 8 seats. Right now the state has a government of AIADMK. This time there is speculation that the Congress will contest the elections together with the DMK.
