Rahul Gandhi’s Amethi aid resigns after loss

Amethi | Yogendra Mishra, President of District Congress Committee from Amethi, resigned after the loss of Chief Rahul Gandhi in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Writing a letter to Rahul Gandhi, Mishra took responsibility for the loss.

“I resign from the post of President of District Congress Committee- Amethi of the Lok Sabha Election year 2019, taking full responsibility for the defeat”.

Yesterday, the counting showed an upward and a downward trend for Gandhi, before finally settling to a downward one, confirming his imminent loss.

Gandhi lost to actor-turned-politician BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani by approximately 55,000 votes.

He had won against Irani in 2014 by over one lakh votes.
