Rahul Gandhi to hold ‘Kisan Samriddhi Sankalp Rally’ in Mandsaur

Mandsaur: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday will hold a ‘Kisan Samriddhi Sankalp Rally’ in Mandsaur’s district’s Khokhra (Piplia Mandi). He is also set to meet the protesting farmers along with families of farmers killed in police firing last year.

According to reports, the Congress leader will hold a meeting with senior party leaders of Madhya Pradesh as well as security forces ahead of today’s visit to Mandsaur.

Former Congress MP from Mandsaur, Meenakshi Natrajan confirmed Media reports that her party had approached the family members of farmers who were killed in police firing, and urged them to support and participate in Rahul Gandhi’s rally.

The family members of three out of the six farmers killed in police firing will share the stage with the Congress President in the ‘Kisan Samriddhi Sankalp Rally.’ Rahul Gandhi’s rally also indicates the start of Congress’ electoral campaign in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.

Farmers across Madhya Pradesh held a statewide protest last year which led to violence in many parts of the state, especially in Mandsaur district. The Madhya Pradesh government in its report said that 5 farmers were killed in the police firing in Mandsaur after the protesting farmers, demanding loan waiver, had allegedly set ablaze 25 trucks and two police vans along the Mhow-Neemuch highway.
