Row breaks out over the discharge of RJD chief Lalu Prasad from AIIMS in Delhi

Shortly after Congress president Rahul Gandhi met RJD chief Lalu Prasad at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), a row has erupted over the latter’s discharge certificate.

In a statement, AIIMS said the RJD supremo’s condition has improved significantly and he was, therefore, being referred back to the Ranchi Medical College. Even the Doctors said that the leader was fit to travel. The hospital’s move, however, didn’t go down too well with Lalu or his family.

His son Tejashwi Yadav said that the decision was made in “haste.” “Only AIIMS authorities can reveal the reason behind the sudden transfer,” he added, hinting at a more sinister motive behind the decision. Lalu stated it was a “political vendetta”, also claiming his life was under threat.

The RJD chief was admitted to AIIMS on March 29 and a medical team comprising six doctors was formed to decide his course of treatment.
