SAD accuses Punjab government of ‘deleting’ the history of Sikh Gurus from textbook

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal accused the Congress government of belittling the rich history of Sikh Gurus.

Chandigarh, Apr 30 (PTI): The Shiromani Akali Dal today decided to hold a meeting of its core committee on Thursday to formulate an action plan to “force” the Congress government in Punjab to re-insert the 23 “deleted” chapters related to the era of Sikh Gurus in Class 12 history books of the Punjab School Education Board.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal accused the Congress government of belittling the rich history of Sikh Gurus.

Former education minister Daljit Singh Cheema briefed the party on how the 23 chapters were allegedly replaced with a half page description about Sikh history.

Badal said it was of prime importance to re-induct all the deleted chapters in the Class 12 history book.

“We will come out with an action plan to ensure the contributions made by our great Gurus are not ignored in the land of their birth and the Congress government does not succeed in its bid to remove our history from our history books”, he added.
