Sam Pitroda on 26/11: “8 people come and do something, can’t blame entire nation”

Sam Pitroda said that he would like to know whether the Airforce have actually hit the target and how many people have been killed.

Mumbai| Amidst the heated election atmosphere in India, a shocking statement has been made by Gandhi family’s close confidante Sam Pitroda questioning the government over Balakot airstrike. Talking to a news agency, he said that it is not right to blame the entire country for the Pulwama Attack. He even said that Pakistan can’t be blamed for the action of a few people referring to the terrorist attack of 26/11 in Mumbai.

Questioning the number of terrorists killed quoted by the government, Pitroda said that he would like to know whether the Airforce have actually hit the target and how many people have been killed. He said, “I would like to know more as I have read in New York Times & other newspapers, what did we really attack, we really killed 300 people?”

When asked about Pulwama attack, in a shocking statement he said that attack happen all the time. Pointing to the government’s approach after the terrorist attack of 26/11, he said that “sending planes is not the right approach”. “The attacks happened in Mumbai also, we could have then reacted and just sent our planes but that is not the right approach. According to me, that’s not how you deal with the world,” he said.

He also said that blaming the entire nation (Pakistan) for the terror attack is “naive”. Pitroda said, “Eight people (terrorists) come and do something, you don’t jump on the entire nation (Pakistan). Naive to assume that just because some people came here & attacked, every citizen of that nation is to be blamed.”

On February 14, as many as 40 CRPF soldiers were killed in the Pulwama terror attack. The terrorist outfit operating from Pakistani soil Jaish-e-Mohammad had claimed the responsibility of the attack. Later, the Indian army carried out an airstrike in Balakot region in Pakistan and demolished Jaish-e-Mohammed’s hideouts.
