SC Allows Interim Bail To Congress Leader Pawan Khera

Nearly 50 Congress leaders launched a protest on the tarmac, refusing to let the flight leave. Pawan Khera, a senior Congress spokesperson, was allegedly forced to exit an IndiGo flight, despite a boarding pass.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted interim relief to Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera who was arrested by Assam police from Delhi airport today morning over his comment about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reported Live Law. 

The Court ordered that Khera should be released on interim bail on production before the jurisdictional Magistrate at Delhi till the next date of hearing, next Tuesday (February 28). The Court also issued notice to the States of UP and Assam, which have registered FIRs against him, on the writ petition filed by Khera seeking consolidation of the FIRs.

Congress’s Pawan Khera was arrested by Assam cops at the Delhi airport today soon after he was deplaned from a flight to Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur.

The arrest was made days after his jibe on PM Mod. “Why are you running away from a debate in Parliament? Why are you scared of JPC? Even PV Narasimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee set up JPC during their stints as prime ministers. What problem does Narendra ‘Gautam Das’ , ‘Damodadardas’ have with JPC? It is Damodardas right. His name is Damodardas but deeds are of ‘Gautam Das'”. Khera had said.
