Sharad Yadav expresses regret over his statement calling Vasundhara Raje “fat”

Reacting to the statement, Raje had said that she felt insulted. However, Sharad Yadav on Saturday expressed regret over his earlier statement.

 

New Delhi| Two days after a controversial statement on Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s weight, Sharad Yadav has expressed regret over his statement. On Thursday, while addressing a rally in Rajasthan‘s Alwar, Loktantrik Janata Dal chief Sharad Yadav had body shamed Rajasthan Chief Minister.

He said that Vasundhara Raje has gained too much weight. He said, “Vasundhara ko aaram do, bahut thak gayi hain, bahut moti ho gayi hain, pehle patli thi. Humare Madhya Pradesh ki beti hai (Give some rest to Vasundhra, she has become very tired, very fat. She used to be thin. She is our Madhya Pradesh’ daughter).”

Reacting to the statement, Raje had said that she felt insulted. However, Sharad Yadav on Saturday expressed regret over his earlier statement. He said, “I have very old family relations with her. If my words hurt her, I express my regret.” He also said that he would write a letter to her.

Earlier. Raje also demanded that the Election commission should take a cognizance of the statement and “should take a quick action and set an example for the future”.
