Shiromani Akali Dal Expels 8 Rebel Leaders

Shiromani Akali Dal expelled eight rebel leaders from the party on Tuesday for “anti-party activities”. The eight include ex-MLA Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Bibi Jagir Kaur, former MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, and former ministers Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Sikander Maluka, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Surinder Thekedar and Charanjit Brar. These leaders had previously accused party President Sukhbir Singh Badal  for “compromising with the Panth’s (Sikh community) sentiments for political gain and not representing their sentiments”

The Telangana government has launched the second phase of its crop loan waiver scheme, waiving loans up to ₹1.5 lakh. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the release of ₹6,198 crore to benefit over 6.5 lakh farmers. “No State ever waived such a large amount of crop loans,” Reddy said. The initiative covers ₹12,289 crore for 16.29 lakh families in total.
