Mumbai | The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena on Monday in its editorial mouthpiece compared the tragic rail incident in Amritsar with the 1919 Jallianwala massacre.
Shiv Sena in its editorial mouthpiece stated, “An incident that reminds of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in Punjab recently. Jallianwala Bagh incident took place during the British rule. However, the Amritsar tragedy has taken place in independent India. Even after getting freedom long ago, it has become people’s destiny to die like insects.”
“Hundreds of people die in train accidents. Every time such incidents happen, a railways minister quits and is replaced by another. It has become a tradition. Earlier, Suresh Prabhu went and Piyush Goyal was chosen as his replacement… Railways always had a separate budget, but the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government removed that too,” added Shiv Sena.
Earlier on 19th October,61 people died during the Dushera celebration in Jora Phatak area of Amritsar when a train ran over people gathered in the area to watch the burning the effigy of Ravana. According to media reports around 300 people had gathered around the area for effigy burning, when a train ran over them, trampling many of them including women and children to death.
