Shocker for NCP: Ajit Pawar resigns from the assembly, goes incommunicado

Ajit Pawar was missing from the NCP protests that took place today. This had raised many questions. Reportedly, he is not responding to any calls.

 

Mumbai| NCP MLA Ajit Pawar has resigned from his post. Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagde has also approved the resignation. The former deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra has not provided any reason yet. Bagade said the resignation of Ajit Pawar had been approved. “Ajit Pawar himself called me to tell that he is resigning from his post. Thus I have approved the resignation,” Bagade said.

Ajit Pawar’s name came forward in the MSCB scam case. The ED had filed a case against Sharad Pawar in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank Scam case. Along with Sharad Pawar, his nephew Ajit Pawar and 70 others were named in the case too. Responding to the case, Sharad Pawar had said that he welcomes the ED step. Calling it a political vendetta, he had said that he will not bow down to the pressure from Delhi. He had announced that he will visit the ED office on Septemeber 27.

However, Ajit Pawar was missing from the NCP protests that took place today. This had raised many questions. Reportedly, several NCP leaders are trying to contact him. However, he is not responding to any calls. The announcement has definitely came as a shocker for the NCP which is dealing with the exodus of prominent leaders from the party.

Meanwhile, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that he will address the media at 8 PM.
