New Delhi| The controversy around Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu attending the groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur corridor in Pakistan doesn’t seem to die down. After returning from the ceremony, Sidhu was caught in a storm of allegations of supporting Khalistan separatist. Taking a U-turn on his earlier stand, Sidhu has now claimed that his party president Rahul Gandhi had not asked him to attend the ceremony.
Earlier, on Friday, he had said that Rahul Gandhi had asked him to go to Pakistan to attend the fundraiser program of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. However, soon after he changed his stance and released his statement on Twitter. He tweeted, “Get your facts right before you distort them, Rahul Gandhi Ji never asked me to go to Pakistan. The whole world knows I went on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s personal invite.”
Get your facts right before you distort them,
Rahul Gandhi Ji never asked me to go to Pakistan.

Sidhu during the election campaign for Congress in Hyderabad had said that Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had forbidden him to go to Pakistan. “However, on the request of about 20 Congress leaders and central leadership, I went to Pakistan,” he said. “The CM of Punjab is like my father. I had already told him that I will go to Pakistan. My captain is Rahul Gandhi and the captain of the CM is also Rahul Gandhi,” he added.
