New Delhi: Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met AIADMK Rajya Sabha member V Maitreyan here today, sources said.
The defence minister, however, could not meet Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who arrived here last night.
“Appointment was given to Shri V. Maitreyan, MP Rajya Sabha. Deputy CM of Tamil Nadu, Shri O. Panneerselvam has not met Smt @nsitharaman,” the Twitter handle of Sitharaman’s office posted.
AIADMK sources said the meeting between Maitreyan and Sitharaman lasted for about 10 minutes but did not divulge its details.
Meanwhile, after his return to Chennai, Panneerselvam told reporters, “our leader Anna (C N Annadurai) has taught us that one should have a heart to bear everything.”
The deputy CM had come to Delhi with his confidants – deputy coordinator of the party K P Munusamy and organising secretary Manoj Pandian.
Panneerselvam had told reporters this morning that his visit was not a political one but to express gratitude to Sitharaman for helping him by arranging an air ambulance for his ailing brother.
