Agra | Samajwadi Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said that his party is willing to play second fiddle to BSP in order to ensure BJP’s defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a Public meeting in Mainpuri’s Jaurai village, Yadav said his party was willing to make a compromise and contest fewer seats if it helped to ensure BJP’s rout in the general elections next year.
“We have an alliance with the BSP and it will continue. If we have to sacrifice 2-4 seats to ensure BJP’s defeat, we will not back out,” he said.

Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav further added that “Our motive is to win elections against BJP and for this we are ready to ally with BSP.”
Taking a dig at the policies of Modi government, the SP leader said “World is developing rapidly, these same neighbours , Pakistan and China used to be much behind us. Today China has taken a big lead over us.”

“BJP lost the last four bypolls in UP to a united opposition. They lost the crucial Kairana LS and Noorpur assembly bypolls recently.” Yadav added.
Earlier UP minister Swami Prasad Maurya alleged SP-BSP alliance is just for the political benefits of the former UP CMs, ” Bua and Babua (Mayawati & Akhilesh Yadav) will finish off with fighting among themselves. This isn’t an alliance based on issues. An issue-less alliance never works. They will finish off before the election (2019) comes.”
