Chinmayanand Case: Yogi govt stops Congress’ Padyatra; Jitin Prasada put under house arrest

Congress leader Jitin Prasada is under house arrest while section 144 has been implemented in many areas of Shahjahanpur.

Lucknow| To mount pressure on the Yogi Adityanath govt in the Chinmayanand case, Congress had decided to take out the padyatra today. The party said it was demanding justice for the victim who accused former Union Minister of State of Home Affairs and BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand for sexual exploitation. However, even before this padyatra could start, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh banned him.

At the same time, the administration has placed Congress leader Jitin Prasada under house arrest. Not only this, the tents in the program organized at the Congress office have been uprooted and Section 144 has been implemented in many areas of Shahjahanpur.

According to media reports, police have been deployed outside the house of former Union Minister Jitin Prasada. On the other hand, Congress Legislature leader Ajay Singh Lallu and National Secretary Ajay Gurjar have been taken into custody and brought to the police station. Many workers have also been brought with them.

Jitin Prasada has shared a video from his official Twitter account. In which he is seen talking to police officers. He tweeted and said, “Yogi government is crushing the voice of justice by not allowing peaceful padyatra of Congress. Raising voice against injustice is the right of every Indian and no one can stop it. ”
Jitin Prasad said, “Congress today wanted to organize a march to highlight the plight of the Shahjahanpur rape victim but the local administration is not allowing it. Tell me how is it a violation of the law? it’s unfortunate.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “Dear Congressmen, the Uttar Pradesh BJP government does not want the padyatra to be started for Shahjahanpur’s daughter. Our Legislature Party leader Ajay Lallu has been arrested and our secretaries are not allowed to leave the hotel. Jitin Prasad ji has been placed under house arrest. After all, what is the BJP government afraid of?

Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday sharply criticized the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh alleging that a rape case has not been registered against the BJP leader and the administration is ‘saving’ the former Union Minister.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted, “Just a year ago many administrative officials of Shahjahanpur were seen performing the aarti of Chinmayanand. The matter had sprung up in the newspapers. The rape case was not filed despite the rape victim saying it completely, how would it happen? When the whole department was embracing and protecting them.”

Chinmayananda is currently in judicial custody. A case has been registered against him under Section 376 (C) of the Indian Penal Code.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had also targeted the Yogi government earlier in the state of law and order in Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka had said that the state government has no control over crime. Priyanka had tweeted, “You try to match the claims and reality of the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh. Every day the BJP government is beating the drum of freeing the state from crime, while the truth is that in 22 days 12 shootings, 4 murders, and atrocities on women. The state government does not control crime. ”
