SP chief Akhilesh Yadav meets Pushpendra Yadav’s family in Jhansi, alleges his encounter is fake

There are two separate FIRs were lodged at Moth and Gursarain police stations against Pushpendra Yadav, Vipin, and Ravindra on Sunday

Lucknow: The death of Pushpendra Yadav who was killed in an alleged police encounter in Jhansi has acquired political war with his family and the Samajwadi Party accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of fake encounter. After the uproar, the Jhansi police have released a list of crimes attributed to the deceased.

“Forcibly performing the last rites of Puspendra Yadav, the BJP government has proved it can go up to any extent to save murder accused (SHO). We demand to lodge an FIR under section 302 against the SHO and a probe into the case by a sitting high court judge,” the Samajwadi Party said.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav will be visiting the victim’s place in Jhansi tomorrow.

His family has alleged that the police officer in charge of the area, Dharmendra Chauhan, was demanding Rs 1.5 lakh as a bribe to release his truck. When Yadav threatened to expose him, he killed the former, said Yadav’s Wife.

Pushpendra Yadav’s wife also said that her husband had given some money to the police officer earlier. “But the inspector was asking for more money. He was shot dead by the police when he refused to pay money. I want justice,” she said.

On 20th September Jhansi’s Senior Superintendent of Police OP Singh had said Pushpendra Yadav was accused in illegal sand mining and was annoyed with the station officer as he had seized some of his sand-laden trucks.

Around 100 people have been killed in encounters by UP Police since Yogi Adityanath became Chief Minister in 2017. His government had come under severe criticism from the opposition parties over the encounters.
