A week after stepping down as Samajwadi Party national general secretary, Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from both the party’s primary membership and the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on Tuesday. He cited a lack of initiative in communication following his resignation, expressing his grievances to party chief Akhilesh Yadav via a letter shared on social media. Maurya initially resigned as the party’s national general secretary on February 13, alleging discrimination and lack of support from the leadership regarding his controversial remarks on the Ramcharitmanas and the Ayodhya temple consecration ceremony.
