Suits the BJP to say that I ran away: Vijay Mallya

London | Fugitive businessman and owner of now defunct Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya accused the BJP of ignoring that he has been a UK citizen since 1992.

In a tweet, Vijay Mallya said, “Fact that I have been a UK resident since 1992 ignored. Suits the BJP to say I ran away.”

Mallya said that Modi himself in his statements vindicated him being a ‘poster boy’ and that they received more than he owes.

He stated that he saw PM Modi’s interview with a news channel, in which he accepts that out of 9000 crores that Mallya owes the banks, they have attached 14000. He accused the BJP of targetting him in their speeches, even when the amount has been paid.

He tweeted,” Saw PM Modi’s interview in which he takes my name and says that even though I owe Rs 9000 crores to Banks, his Govt has attached my assets worth Rs 14,000 the highest authority has confirmed full recovery. Why do BJP spokesmen continue their rhetoric?”

Vijay Mallya has been accused of defrauding banks of Rs 9,000 crore. He has currently appealed against his extradition to India, settled in the UK after fleeing from the country in March 2016.
